A 500GB M.2 NVMe drive on PCIe Gen4. The only Gen4 drive in this TeamGroup selection, though its speeds sit closer to a good Gen3 drive than to a fast Gen4 one.

Gen4 interface, Gen3 speeds, and why

3300/2400 is not fast for a Gen4 drive. A high end Gen4 SSD reads at 7000 MB/s. The Z44L is a DRAM-less entry level Gen4 part, and at 500GB there are relatively few NAND dies to work in parallel.

The 3500/3000 figures sometimes quoted for the Z44L are the 2TB figures. The 500GB model is 3300/2400. We would rather state the correct number for the capacity you are buying.

What it is good at

300 TBW endurance on a 500GB drive is high, equivalent to writing the whole drive 600 times. That is considerably better than the 120 TBW of the MP33 PRO 512GB, and it makes this a more durable choice for a drive that sees regular heavy writes despite the modest sequential figures.

Works in a Gen3 slot at Gen3 speeds, which given these numbers costs you almost nothing.
