550/500 is the SATA limit

SATA III tops out around 600 MB/s in theory and around 550 in practice. This drive is at that ceiling, and no SATA SSD from any manufacturer will be meaningfully faster. If you want more, you need NVMe.

Where 1TB SATA still makes sense

Adding bulk storage to a machine whose M.2 slots are full. Upgrading a laptop with only a 2.5 inch bay. Replacing a mechanical drive in an older desktop. In all of those, this is the right drive and NVMe simply is not an option.

DRAM-less. An SLC cache handles normal writes. Sustained heavy writing will slow once it fills.
