2TB of SATA versus a hard drive

At 2TB, this competes with a mechanical hard drive on capacity rather than with NVMe on speed. Against a 7200 RPM drive it is roughly four times faster sequentially and dramatically faster on small random reads, silent, and immune to shock damage. Against a hard drive it costs considerably more per gigabyte.

For a game library, a media library or a working project drive, the responsiveness is worth it. For long term archival bulk storage, a hard drive still costs less.

400 TBW endurance is enough to write the whole drive 200 times. For normal desktop use that is a decade or more.
