Vanillaware's tactical RPG, produced by Atlus. Prince Alain builds a Liberation Army to take back five nations from the Zenoiran Empire, and the whole thing is drawn in the hand painted 2D style Vanillaware is known for.
How battles work
You explore a real overworld and engage in real time with pause tactical battles. Units are squads of five or six characters arranged on a grid, and front or back row placement decides which attacks fire and who absorbs damage.
Tactics system
Combat resolves automatically once it starts. What you control is the setup: each character gets conditional rules such as target the lowest health enemy, or only heal below 50 percent. Getting a squad's rules right is the actual game.
